MADRID: World's best player, Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for two matches over a red card offense for kicking Cordoba's Edimar during Real Madrid's 2-1 win over La Liga last Saturday.

The suspension saw the Spanish-born star missed home-game against Real Sociedad and Sevilla next week but could still be relegated to the Spanish champions Atletico Madrid on February 7.

Real currently outperforms the La Liga chart with one point ahead of Barcelona but still have less than one game.

January is considered a full moon of emotion for Ronaldo after the star striker won the third Ballon d'Or award in Zurich, Switzerland but at the same time split with his female model superhero, Irina Shayk.

His emotions were clearly disturbed on the pitch and the disappointment was fired by kicking Brazilian defender Edimar when the game was still 1-1 at the same time collecting the ninth red card throughout his career.

Wales star Gareth Bale became Real rescuer by scoring a winning goal in seven minutes with a penalty shootout.

Former Manchester United striker Ronaldo is also facing a tougher penalty because he is also seen as one of Córdoba's players, Jose Crespo before being charged with a red card.

Even after Real's victory, he then seemed to try to provoke Cordoba's rivals by pointing out the giant club's logo towards them before leaving.

However, the 29-year-old has already apologized for his actions on his personal Twitter page. - AFP
