LONDON: Arsenal controller Arsene Wenger authorized Jack Wilshere to book injury while in action in the first half of the League Cup final against Chelsea in action without a network series early this morning.

The development saw the midfielder most likely miss a visit to Bournemouth for the English Premiership (EPL) action on Sunday.

The England midfielder looked as if he had overcome the problem of injury since returning to action in the last six Gunners resistance and captain at Stamford Bridge but he was forced to be replaced in the second half.

Wilshere's situation adds to Wenger's problems that have also lost some milestones due to injury between Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla.

"I do not know if he can play this Sunday but he is certainly injured in the wrists," Wenger said.

"At the moment we have five major injuries and are hoping to get their first solemnity." The earliest possible return to action is Ramsey and he is something to be avoided because we lack players in that position.

"If we did not lose solemnity Jack tonight, we might get back Ramsey and then Ozil on Sunday but we're still short of players."

Ozil whose contract expires at the end of the season despite two Arsenal action in January that raised speculation over his removal from the Emirates.

The last time Ramsey played with Arsenal when the EPL action met Southampton, 10 December and ended the series.

Arsenal, who occupy the sixth league ladder, will travel to Bournemouth before awaiting Crystal Palace's visit to the league before embarking on a reciprocal half-term resistance to the League Cup on 24 January. - REUTERS
