Washington: US President Donald Trump proposes to supply firearms to teachers to deal with the incident of random fire at school in the country.

Trump said this at a meeting with survivors who were killed in a shootout that killed 17 victims in a Florida high school recently.

At the same time, Trump pledged to tighten the firearm background checks, after sharing the grief that the families of the victims and students had escaped in the incident.

"If you have a skilled teacher in handling firearms, they can end the attack immediately.

"However, it's only for those who are really skilled in handling weapons," Trump said, suggesting that about 20 percent of school teachers were trained to carry hidden weapons.

Meetings at the White House which were broadcast live on television were held following street protests including school students across the country.

Respondents insist on firing firearm laws more strictly implemented following the death of 14 students and three teachers of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, recently.
